Greetings Runners!
Owing to safety considerations, course alterations are mandated in order for the 37th annual Callbecks Home Hardware Dunk River Run to be conducted this year.
The RCMP, who have been most supportive to us over the years in helping with traffic control on the route, have succinctly informed me that they cannot continue to be involved with the event in its' existing configuration.
While not particularly pleased about having to abandon the traditional route, I feel we need to be practical, and that the safety of participants must trump sentimentality.
I am proposing a route that encompasses most of the historic one, but which will run in a counterclockwise fashion,(opposite direction) and eliminate the dangerous crossing of Hwy 1A near the end of the race.
I hope to be at the banquet later this month to discuss these changes with those interested.
