It appears the Florida Tax Watch group concern is that our Pension Fund is 94% funded and they are of the opinion it should be 100% funded before an extra benefit is paid like the 13th check.
F&P Pension Chairman Mark Bogush did an outstanding job representing our Pension Fund. Mark stated, “ Our Fund is one of the best Funds in the Southeastern United States.” Mark explained how our Pension Fund is structured and by law if the qualifiers are met the Pension Fund is required to pay a 13th check.
As a retiree who closely monitors our Pension Fund, I don’t know of any Pension Fund that is structured like ours that is funded at 100% or if it’s even possible.
As for the Florida Tax Watch group, no need to watch our Pension Fund.
