He paddled through the water, feeling streamlined and physically able in an entirely different setting than he was accustomed to. Muscled legs propelled him forward, easily catching up to Natu – who had somehow managed to get slightly ahead of him. Just as he falls into sync with her once more, paddling towards the far shore, she played a bit of a trick on him. Her dive caught him by surprise, and he treaded water for a moment, wondering what she was up to. When she resurfaced, it literally smacked him in the face. Her bark of delight escapes her just as the fish claps him square in the forehead. The fish bounced off his head, but Sleekwing did not miss a beat. As the squirming thing thought it was about to reenter the water and return to freedom, his jaws flashed out and he clasped them around the fish’s midsection. It writhed in his jaws as he looked over just in time to see Natu climb out of the water. She shook the dampness from her fur as Sleekwing paddled over to the ledge, climbing out next to her with a smile created by the fish in his grasp. He had bit down just hard enough as he exited the water to end the fish’s wriggling, and he dropped it at her feet, and then proceeded to shake himself off. A chuckle rippled forth from him at her words. “Oh, did you drop this? Managed to catch it for you, slick little bugger that he is.” He joked back with her; but in the end she had managed to trick her way into winning the race, and he’d managed to provide them with a snack to share. It would seem that the two were born to play the roles they had assumed within Spirane. He dipped his head down, placing a forepaw upon the tail fin of the fish and grasping the scales delicately between his teeth. He positioned himself just right, and then tore back at the fish, pulling away most of the scales and revealed the flesh within. Stepping back, he offered her the first bite, if she was so inclined. |
