Susil Crags

Disaster has struck!
The Crags are a series of rocky formations with small caves and crevices throughout. Many of the lower-lying areas of the Crags have been flooded, however, with water pouring in from the Northern stretches of Moladion. Some paths have been completely submerged, and some are nothing more than a few rocky peaks sticking out of the water. The water is fairly slow moving but begins to pick speed up towards the Grotto, becoming a series of intense rapids and waterfalls as it nears the Grotto's entrance.

The area itself is still traversible. However, it can be risky. Large amounts of debris can enter the waterway, creating bridges at times but also creating dams that break and cause ocassional flash-flooding. Be careful, travelers! One wrong step and you could end up finding out where the water goes.

Now, no one can be saved!
Summer had come, and after the long spring of nursing the two young ones in her hole in the wall, Jaidah desired much needed self time. The concern over her red-faced pup was no more than a passing thought, and it only occurred when she looked at the girl, if Jaidah called, she ignored it. A will to survive had kept the pup alive thus far, but thoughts of weakness in her line still disturbed the white female. So far, Gehenna had not shown signs of weakness, only an uncanny ability to survive and overcome, she was an adaptable girl and surprised her mother almost constantly. Now though, the pups are out of sight and out of mind as she moves through the familiar territory of the crags. Summer sun heated her alabaster pelt, and a soft breeze kept her from being overly hot in the daylight, though she still huffed about the brightness of the sun against the electric jade of her gaze. Squinting her lids against the blast of light, Jaidah moves slowly trying to find something of interest to do other than pitting her children against one another in play fights.

The rocks were warm against her pads as she made her way through the maze of stone, crows cawing nearby catching the ears of the white monster that moves about. Following the sound to its source, Jaidah finds a wolf on the ground, laying in an awkward manner upon the most uncomfortable seeming rocks. Her head tilts as she realizes crows pick at its eyes, and buzzards circle overhead as they too wait for their turn at the meal. Interest in the corpse as a meal fades when she scents the toxicity of the rotting flesh, though, poking around in the mess couldn't hurt. It was more interesting than walking alone anyway. She spies a scraggly tree not far away, goes to grab a stick with her mouth and her weight snapped it from its branch. Returning to the tan and grey wolf, Jaidah positions the stick in her mouth to poke at it.

The skin was far softer than she anticipated, and when the stick pierced the rotten hide, a putrid odor escaped the dead being. A giggle exits her mouth from between her teeth as she holds the stick, her nose crinkling at the scent of someone else's misfortune. Opening the body cavity, a gleeful laugh escapes her as the entrails spill over the rocks in a nasty and smelly mess. Crows caw at her, the buzzards make their piercing pleas, and Jaidah moves back. Her head tilts as the crows go back for the eyes, and for the liver that had spilled from the corpse. Buzzards dive into the body and waste no time to go for the innards. It was interesting to watch the carrion birds, and since she couldn't eat the meat, something else may as well profit. Watching them, Jaidah began to understand more about death.

Just because something died, doesn't mean the death was pointless. Now, maybe someone with a mind open like Jaidah's would come along.
