To Retirees;
How fortunate we retirees had it in the John Parker lawsuit {thanks to Attorney Wayne Thomas} to not pay 1 dime and get the full amount owed to us, over 10 million dollars, about $7,300 per eligible retiree.
Now, compare the John Parker class-action lawsuit to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders class-action lawsuit against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Buccaneers cheerleader, Manouchcar Pierre-Val became the lead plaintiff in a federal court class-action lawsuit against the Buccaneers that claimed the NFL franchise violated federal and state wage laws. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed to settle the lawsuit by paying a maximum of $825,000 to set up a fund to reimburse cheerleaders for hours they said they were required to work but for which they weren’t paid. According to the settlement, the average payment in back wages per season to each cheerleader would be $5,254.78, but after attorney’s fees and other costs are deducted, they would receive about $3,400 per season. The law firm Morgan & Morgan will receive about $264,000 of the settlement.
For those retirees that might have missed the news about Attorney Wayne Thomas finally getting paid, after 7 years 8 months, on 11 February 2015, Wayne Thomas received payment with interest for $1,349,005.48. This payment came from the F&P Pension Funds insurance company.
On Monday, 9 March 2015, John Parker and I will attend a hearing at the Hillsborough County Circuit Court. Up for discussion will be estate payment report to the Court and additional attorney fees owed to Wayne Thomas for appealing the 2ND DCA ruling and going to the Florida Supreme Court.
