Adam Mackey, A Tough Act To Follow Posted on 3/26/2015 at 02:37:57 AM by SuperDave
The pieces are starting to fall into place, after the offseason departure of Adam Mackey, who took a GM position for Track Enterprises in Illinois. Mackey was the Announcer and PR Director at Midvale Speedway for 16 years, opening up a couple of spots at the 3/10-mile oval.
Two familiar faces will be filling those rolls. Taking over as lead announcer will be Chris Kail, of Dover, Ohio. Kail, formerly a competitor in the Sport Stock division, had been a co-announcer with Mackey over the last couple of seasons. Kail called the action from turn three, close to the pits. The two had a great chemistry, giving fans a unique and fun call over the loudspeakers. Kail will move into the newly renovated tower for race nights and is also expected to be the author of many of the speedway articles.
Also taking a promotion is Matt Helms, who has worked as a tower assistant for the last few years. Helms has done a little bit of everything, biding his time for a better position. Helms will likely handle a lot of the website updates, handle some of the PR duties including Facebook updates, and fill in when needed on the microphone.
The two, as well as Midvale's other officials, are getting prepared for the start of the 2015 racing season, which is just around the corner. Replies:
