CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.
Messages posted in the last 24 hrs. are in White.
BRIGADIER BS BURDITT - RIP Funeral Details
IP: 86.140.174.164

Gentlemen

The arrangements for the funeral are:
Tuesday 14 April 2015.
At 1300 hours.
At St Mark's Church, Church Walk, Bilton, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV22 7RN. Turn off Bilton Road into Church Walk and then into Pool Close and the ample car park is on your right.
Afterwards at The Dunchurch Park Hotel, Rugby Road, Dunchurch, Warwickshire, CV22 6QW. This about a 10 minute drive from the church. There is good car parking and a grassed overflow.
I visited Greta this morning. She is in very good heart as are Ian and Sarah who were also there. They are happy (keen even) that the funeral has a military flavour (bugler, Association standards etc).

Family flowers only. Donations, if required, to The Rugby Myton Hospice, Barby Road Rugby, Warwickshire, CV22 5PY. There is an online donation facility on the Myton Hospices website: use the "In Memory" tag and follow your instincts !!

If you hope to or plan to attend, please let me know so that I may inform Greta of likely numbers for catering.

Travel

If you intend to travel by road, please be aware that:
To the South East of Coventry at the junction of A45 and A46 (Coventry Eastern Bypass), there are very major roadworks with possible lengthy delays (20-30 mins).
In the centre of Rugby, more roadworks where all major incoming roads meet at a small gyratory system: 10-15 minute delays.
For those who do not rely on SatNav, the journey from St Mark's Church to Dunchurch Park Hotel, directions are:
From the church, return to Bilton Road: turn left.
At pedestrian/traffic lights turn left.
At next T junction: turn left.
At next T junction (opposite the entrance to Bilton Grange School), turn right.
The hotel is on your left immediately after pedestrian traffic lights.
If you plan to travel by rail, Rugby is on the West Coast main line from London Euston to (a) Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton and (b) the North West (Crewe, Wigan, Preston, Manchester and Scotland). From Euston 60 mins journey and from Birmingham New Street, there are three trains per hour. Please note, these are Virgin Trains. The other option is London Midland which is slower and cheaper. Please ensure you buy the correct ticket. London Midland tickets are not valid on Virgin.

During normal working hours, there are taxis waiting at Rugby station. However, if required, a couple of taxi firms are:
Dial-a-Cab: 01788 540800 / 570202
People Express: 01788 561000

I hope all this is helpful. Please come back to me with any queries. In the meantime, do feel free to forward this email to any one not listed whom you think may wish to attend Brian's funeral. Arrangements are in hand to inform the original 5RRF members in Northumberland and Lancashire and St John Ambulance.

With best wishes

John
