I watched most of that race -- one of the best Indy car races I've seen in a while. Tight pack racing like that is fun for the fans, but potentially dangerous for the drivers...the accident at the end where one car got airborne illustrated that. No one (fans or drivers) wants freight train races, but they might want to adjust the aero package a bit to reduce the risk to the drivers somewhat. There is little doubt that if they were to race like that all of the time, it wouldn't be long before someone got seriously injured, or even killed. I don't think the drivers were whining, they were just a bit sketched out as they were leaving their cars to go change their underwear. ;-)
As fun as that Indy race was to watch, I still prefer a pack of supermodifieds on a big oval like Oswego or Sandusky. :-) Replies:
