Fan Appreciation Night Saturday at Sandusky Speedway
This Saturday, July 4th, at Sandusky Speedway, the cars and stars of the speedway's three stock car divisions will take center stage for one of their most anticipated events of the season, Pat O'Brien Chevrolet Fan Appreciation Night. The Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks and Hobby Stocks will each duel for twenty laps around the speedway's premier half-mile surface. Also in attendance will be John Lennon and Elvis impersonators as well as the North Coast Vintage Oval Racers.
The Digital Yalo Ohio Stock division, a division mixing street stock, truck and template late model bodied cars, will be the top division of the night. Kargo Racing's Jerry Karl has dominated the competition in this division, winning four of six feature events thus far in 2015. However, Rich Clingan and Julia Buckles have each stolen a win in the past month, keeping Karl from victory lane and reeling him in for the points lead.
The Milan Automotive Street Stock points standings are led by the #16 Track Kings car of Logan Cooper with three feature wins. However, Mike White is regaining momentum with two feature wins. Unfortunately for White, he had clutch issues that prevented him from running the majority of the second night's events and giving him a huge points deficit. Collin Penn has also proven very fast, winning a feature event on June 13th and trailing by just fifteen points.
The Melinda! Melinda! Hobby Stock division will round out the racing action with their four cylinder powered front wheel drives. Kelly Lille leads the points by a healthy margin, due to consistency in preliminary races as well as qualifying along with a pair of feature wins in the last two weeks. Very fast cars like the #12 of Dylan Watson are also expected to be in attendance.
One of the best parts of this event will be the price for the family to witness it. General admission tickets, hot dogs, Pepsi products and Budweiser beer will all be priced at just one dollar each. The cars will begin to flood into the gates of the speedway pit area at the four o'clock hour, with practice beginning at 5. Qualifications will begin at 6 to set the fields for all the racing action scheduled to commence at 7:30.
