Mt lion that walked from South Dakota

This is a very entertaining story, and indeed the event would be possible. However, our investigation immediately following the cat getting hit in CT revealed that there are many inconsistencies in this story. We requested a copy via FOIA of the DNA report from CT DEEP and they avoided it for months. When finally getting it, the report reveals that Culver determined that the DNA of the CT cat's "Closest match in the database", was the population in South Dakota. It does NOT say an individual was identified. In fact, in that year, there were not enough database samples available for any individual to be identified. One of the alleged locations this cat passed through was in Northern NY. However, 3 months AFTER the cat was hit, a representative from NY's wildlife stated to a Syracuse newspaper that's there had NEVER been any mountain lion confirmed in New York. Ok, well someone is lying here. The CT DEEP has no credibility on this. They immediately stated upon the cat getting hit (since just weeks before they stated there were none n CT), that they were investigating it as a "released pet" Lo and behold, UCONN examines it and determines it is wild. So they had to come up with some kind of story that would claim this was a once in a lifetime event. In fact, there have been a number of confirmations in southern Canada, and most show this same DNA trait, descended from South Dakota population. That is less than 200 miles from Southern New England. Which is more plausible? You decide.
