Having been stationed at Davisville, RI and living in the outlaying areas, it was not at all uncommon to have some long-time resident point out the effects of terrible hurricane mentioned here from that date:
ON THIS DAY
On Sept. 21, 1938, a hurricane struck parts of New York and New England, causing widespread damage and claiming more than 600 lives.
Water marks on the sides of buildings and other structures that had intentionly, never been removed or painted over...morbid stories of how drowned people and animals, could be seen, hanging in the storm damaged trees. JW
