For my central ohio home lake for Saugeye the change-over from the slow Spring (deeper-water) jig/cast-bite to the much faster (shallow) Troll bite is 63-65 degrees surface temp for a consistant troll bite for numbers in the daytime. The shallow softwater 'break nite-bite is from Ice-out to Ice-up...

The most important effect is the amount of food available in Indian Lake to the fish. Once the shad start going into spin cycle & the amount of food drops in various areas the bite will pick back up for the average banker.

Also the ph factor increase over 3/4-4/5ths of the lake from the leaf drop will increase your chances for a bite in the SW area of the lake. (4 miles of limestone riprap plus lack of trees & flow area's for the SW corner equals a normal ph along the rocks)

Both of the above have been stated many times in the last 10 years...

Large warm rocks after dark in nov/dec is the ticket for size. Knowing the location of them, what mother nature hands you for that nite and lots of movement shift is the main game for a good score.

ph factor from leaves is tannic acid. Limestone is a alkaline buffer, so it helps reduce the acid from the leaves. LOL, I payed attn in Grade School science in the 1950s

the ph factor in some areas is only a concern for a short time period after the main leaf drop. The major concern is the amount of food in Indian.
