1963… Teams 1001 and 1002 arrived in the Republic of Vietnam, the first teams deployed in support of the United States Operation Mission, Vietnam. Team 1001 arrived in Quang Ngai and established headquarters in a small hotel and adjacent grounds for equipment parking.
1966…The NMCB-10 completed the 3,900 foot runway at Khe Sanh and opened it to C-130 aircraft.
1967… At 1905, NMCB-74’s bridge project at ZD 152010 received 6 rounds of 81mm mortar fire.
…NMCB-10’s Detail Juliett departed Gia Le by air for Khe Sanh to provide construction support for Special Forces, FOB #3.
…NMCB-7 deployed an additional 23 men to the Detail Charlie construction site.
…NMCB-3 personnel manned the defensive perimeter due to increased Viet Cong patrols in the area.
1968…1000-NMCB-121 relieved NMCB-8. CDR Stultz assumed command of Camp Wilkinson.
…NMCB-121 relieved NMCB08 at Camp Wilkinson, Gia Le Combat Base, Phu Bai
…NMCB-3 completed aircraft parking for 212th ARVN Battalion and dredging and rock fill at the 3NCB East Yard.
1969… At 1430, a sniper pinned down an NMCB-133 tractor trailer and jeep on QL-1, 15 km northeast of Da Nang
…At 1125 the Alpha Company road crew working on the Camp Carroll road upgrade, received two rounds of unknown size rockets approximately 50 meters from their position. No personnel or equipment casualties were sustained. Again at 1315, the same crew again received two rounds of unknown rocket size. Just as with the earlier attack, there were no injuries or damage sustained.
…NMCB-11 Detail Foxtrot returned to Camp Haines.
1970… A 48” culvert on Route QL-1 was destroyed by enemy action. While NMCB-62 personnel were repairing the culvert, a Vietnamese female stepped on and detonated an anti-personnel mine resulting in two Seabees and the Vietnamese female being MEDEVACED and an additional Seabee with minor injuries.
