1965…Heavy rains and strong winds were encountered by NMCB-4
at Camp Shields. Eighteen berthing tents were damaged beyond repair and three circus tents were destroyed. Field crews spent the majority of their time trying not to lose ground in their respective projects during the storm which lasted 3 days.
1966…NMCB-10’s Advance Party under LT J.T. Prather, CEC, USN, departed for Port Hueneme via VR-21 aircraft.

…17 December saw the completion by NMCB-5 of a 42 bunker project for the 11th Engineer Battalion near the DMZ. The project, begun on 07 December 1966, had been constructed under hostile enemy fire and difficult weather conditions.
1968…Seabees from NMCB-12 operating the 30th NCR concrete batch plant set a new plant record by batching 422 cubic yards of concrete in an 8 ½ hour shift.
… NMCB-3 issued mortar alert at 0053 due to mortar attack on 1st AIR CAV which received approximately 7 rounds of 82mm mortar. No NMCB-3 casualties; no enemy rounds fell in camp. Stepped down to Condition II Modified at 0125. Another mortar alert was issued at 2310 due to a rocket attack at the Da Nang Air Base. Stepped down to Condition III Modified at 2310. No NMCB-3 casualties and no rounds fell in the camp.
