1967…NMCB-58 completed a project at FLSG-A Da Nang, begun on 30 October 1966, consisting of drilling two wells one of which was near Building 26 and the other in the Motor Transport area. (tag 12 Camp Books map) Additionally, 3 storage tanks were placed, one 1,000 bbl ground level tank and one 100 bbl tank at the Motor maintenance area and one 500 bbl elevated tank near Galley #89.
…At approximately 0145, NMCB-62 at Camp Campbell received six rounds of 82mm mortar fire. This was a portion of the total of 59 rounds taken within the Phu Bai Combat Base. One hut in the Alpha Company berthing area and one in the Delta Company area sustained direct hits. Casualties sustained as a result of the attack were two KIA, EO3 Francis E. Camden, Wheaton MD and BUCN Murlin Boon, Watonga, OK and seventeen WIA
…NMCB-9 deployed a detachment to Dong Tam in the Mekong Delta, consisting of 1 officer and 26 enlisted men, to construct a cantonment for U.S. Naval Forces.

1968…NMCB-128 officers hosted NMCB-74 officers at “Hurry Back For More, Seventy Four” party. Guests included RADM J.V. Bartlett, CEC, USN, COM3NCB; CAPT C.C. Heid, CEC, USN; CDR G.W. Schley, CEC, USN; CDR W.W. DeGroot, CEC, USN,; and CDR R.A. Bowers, CEC, USN.
…RADM J.V. Bartlett, CEC, USN, COM3NCB, visited NMCB-128’s Naval Advisory Detachment Lower Base Pier project.
…While employed on road construction in the Hoi An ROK Marine cantonment area, an Eimco tractor detonated a mine (105mm shell). Two NMCB-58 Seabees sustained injuries, both considered minor, although one was medically evacuated for observation and possible internal injury. The Eimco tractor was damaged beyond repair.
…An inspection team headed by LT A.T. German from 31NCR visited NMCB-40 at Camp Shields for the Annual Automotive Construction and Material Administration Inspection of NMCB-40.
…NMCB-10’s Detail Golf sustained a rocket attack. No personnel casualties; two strongbacks received moderate damage.
…Seabee Team 1010 personnel reported aboard NMCB-10 base camp at Quang Tri.
…At 0845, two NMCB-5 trucks were ambushed on Route 9 between Dong Ha and Cam Lo. The enemy used small arms fire, claymore mines, and rocket propelled grenades. The two drivers, W.L. Daniels, EOH3 and J.T. Jaworski, EOH3, were wounded in the ambush.

1969…CAPT D.G. Iselin, COMCBLANT, visited NMCB-74 at Camp Shields and toured NMCB-74 projects.
…Thich Thranh Truc, the Buddhist Bronze, called on the NMCB-7 Commanding Officer. He was the spiritual leader of all Buddhists in Quang Tri and Thua Thien Provinces.
…NMCB-5 Main Body flights began departing CONUS by air for Camp Hoover, Da Nang.
…CAPT D.G. Iselin, CEC, USN, COMCBLANT, was the guest of honor at a dinner held at the NMCB-3 wardroom. Other guest included Capt. A.M. Lalande, Jr., CEC, USN, DIRCOn NORTH, and CDR W.E. Davis, CEC, USN, DEPDIRCON North.
…At 1445 NMCB-3’s Fire Department was the first fire fighting unit to respond to an alarm sounded by 3NCB. One barracks was a total loss, but the quick response on NMCB-3 helped contain the fire to the one building.
…A mid-deployment NMCB-12 operations briefing was presented to COM30NCR.

1970…MCB-10 Detail Echo departed for Quang Tri for construction of the Red Devil Electrical System.
