1967…RADM Alexander C. Husband, CEC, USN, COMNAVFACENG; RADM Paul E. Seufer, CEC, USN, COM3NCB; and CDR Robert J. Jortberg, CEC, USN, Chief of Staff 30NCR, visited NMCB-58 at Camp Haskins South, NMCB-4 at Camp Hoover, and NMCB-9 at Camp Haskins North
1968…NMCB-40 Detail Golf (1st increment), consisting of 7 enlisted men, deployed TAD to NMCB-5 at Dong Ha to begin preparations for establishing a rock crusher near Cam Lo.
…Five NMCB-3 personnel were awarded Purple Heart Medals.
…First flight of NMCB-3 main body boarded C-124 aircraft for Clark AFB.
…Illumination and 18 rounds of M-16s fired at unknown person moving on the NMCB-3 perimeter at Camp Haskins South.
…NMCB-9 deployed 2 officers and 300 men to Hill 494 (L7014, SH6541 I; ZD0202) , thirty-five miles north of Da Nang to construct, develop, and operate a quarry, rock crushing facility, and a 250-man cantonment. The Detail rejoined the Battalion on 29 May 1968.
…The first elements of MCB-9’s Detail Echo arrived on the site of the new quarry to be developed at Hill 494, near Phu Loc.
…MCB-9’s detachment at Liberty Bridge completed repairs to the 378-foot timber approach bridge on the north shore of the Thu Bon River.
1969…NMCB-12 ceased operations at the Ca Lu quarry and rock crusher
…At 1235, the NMCB-3 crew working on the Hai Van Pass upgrading came under small arms fire for approximately 10 minutes. No casualties or equipment damage was sustained.
…MCB-10 Detail Nancy returned to base camp at Camp Haines from LZ Nancy.
…NMCB-22 completed Da Nang Air Base Primary Power project, the rehab of the Camp0 haskins North EM Club, and it’s School for the Blind project
…Last flight of NMCB-11 Main Body departs Camp Rhodes for CONUS. The Quang Tri deployment ends. (Capt. Bruce Geibel “Family of 11th Seabee battalions”)
…The NMCB-12 quarry and rock crusher detachment at Ca Lu ceased all operations at 1800. The detachment completed the move back to Camp Adenir on 04 Feb
1971…Two sniper rounds were fired at NMCB-74 Detail Hotel personnel. No injuries or damage resulted. (MCB-74 DCR ’70-’71)
…NMCB-3’s detail Neptune at Cua Viet received seven mortar rounds. There were no Seabee casualties.
