1966…EOH3 Arnold J. Faulkner, NMCB-4 was killed

1967…NMCB-133’s first Seabee of the Month was selected. BUL2 J.E. Shantz of Delta Company.

1968…The Khe Sanh Combat Base experienced the second heaviest artillery, rocket, and mortar attack of the 77 day siege. Nearly 1100 incoming rounds hit the base killing Marine Capt. Jack Eggar, Gny. Sgt. John Grohmann, 1Lt. Paul Bush, Pfc. Stephen Shannon, and Pfc. Bennie Sisson.
…NMCB-58 completed its work at the FLC Open Storage area. The existing sand area was brought to grade and covered with 4,427 cu. yds. Of compacted road-run rock and covered with 350 cu. yds of 1½” aggregate and 1,196 cu. yds. of asphalt wearing surface in order to support forklifts and tractor trailers. The Battalion expended 1010 man-days of direct labor to complete this project.
…NMCB-58 completed work at the 1st MAW Ammo Storage Area. The project consisted of an ammunition storage pad involving 4,900 cu. yds. of material being relocated. The Battalion graded a 1700 ft. road, hauled, spread, and compacted 1790 cu. yds. Of road-run rock and covered this with 412 tons of hot-laid asphalt. Also a 135 ft. road of 8” concrete was constructed expending a total of 668 man-days on the entire project.
…CAPT C.W. Turner, CEC, USN, COM30NCR and CAPT J.R. Fisher, CEC, USN, prospective COM30NCR, visited NMCB-128 at Camp Faulkner and several NMCB-128 construction sites.
…CAPT C.G. Miller, Chief of Staff COMCBPAC; CDR B.J. Hackinson, Logistics Officer COMCBPAC; and CDR P. Oliver, Prospective Chief of Staff, 21NCR visited NMCB-40 at Camp Shields.

1969…RADM W.M. Enger, CEC, USN, Vice Commander, NAVFAC; RADM J.G. Dillon, CEC, USN, COM3NCB; and CAPT A.W. Walton, COM32NCR visited NMCB-128 jobsites at Quang Tri.
…RADM Enger, CEC, USN, Vice Commander, NAVFAC; RADM Dillon, CEC, USN, COM2NCB; CAPT Walton, CEC, USN, COM32NCR; Master Chief Shannon, Seabee Senior Enlisted Advisor, inspected the Song Nong Railroad Bridge under repair by NMCB-121.
…Seabee Team 5301 Departed for Soc Trang.
…Phu Bai Combat Base came under rocket attack at approximately 0645. No rounds were received within Camp Campbell.
…RADM W.M. Enger, Deputy COMNAVFACENGCOM and RADM J.G. Dillon, COM3NCB, visited NMCB-40 at Camp Campbell and toured job sites.
…The Dong Ha Hospital was dedicated, highlighted by the presence of BGEN R.B. Carney, Assistant Division Commander, THIRD MARDIV.
…NMCB-7 hosted dinner for MGEN R.G. Davis, USMC, Commanding General THIRD MARDIV, and other business associateds of the THIRD MARDIV Area of Operations, all of whom NMCB-7 had construction and support commitments to during the deployment.
…The first flight of NMCB-5’s Detail Golf began returning to Camp Hoover from Vung Tau.

1970…A 2 ½ ton dump truck was stolen from Seabee Team 0313 while parked at the CORDS compound, Can Tho.
…CAPT C.G. Miller; CDR B.J. Hackenson; and UTCM M.J. Olson, all of COMCBPAC, conducted an NMCB-121 Management Inspection.
…NMCB-121 Detail Water Witch Charlie rejoined the Battalion at Camp Haskins South.
…NMCB-5’s Commanding Offier, CDR R.A. Schade, Jr., relieved NMCB-1’s Commanding Officer, CDR C.V.W. Popowich at Camp Haskins North.

1971…NMCB-74 Advance Party consisting of 1 officer and 27 enlisted men and NMCB-133 Detail Kangaroo departed Bien Hoa for CBC Gulfport.
…NMCB-5 Detail Stallion arrived at CBC Bien Hoa from CBC Port Hueneme.
…NMCB-5’s Detail Stallion, consisting of 8 Officers and 130 Enlisted men, was based at Bien Hoa. In addition to serving as the operational control center, the Detail as tasked with the logistic, equipment and administrative support of the Battalion’s in-country details.
…An NMCB-3 2 ½ ton field truck detonated an unknown size mine on LTL-4. Four Seabees sustained minor injuries.
…A material storage Ammi pontoon and pile driving Ammi pontoon were severely damaged by sapper-placed limpet mines at the NMCB-3 Detail Neptune construction site. There were no Seabee casualties.
…NMCB-3’s Detail Unicorn departed camp haskins South for Phouc Trach to repair SEA huts and install two generators for Coastal Group 14.
…First increment of NMCB-3’s Advance Party departed Camp Haskins South for CBC Port Hueneme.
…NMCB-3’s Detail Regulus returned to Camp Haskins South from LZ Stinson after completing well drilling operations
