1967…William H. Rivers NMCB-11-Dong Ha
…NMCB-11 began it’s second RVN deployment at Dong Ha (Camp Barnes) being the first MCB to be deployed to the Dong Ha area.
At Dong Ha the Battalion began work on a cantonment for the Marine’s Force Logistics Support Unit, and constructed a complex of 16 rigid frame buildings for the 3rd Marine Division. At the same time a 75-man detachment was deployed to Khe Sanh to re-build the airfield.
1968…Seabee Team 1012 relieved Team 0512 at Ban Phum Saron, Thailand
…Chu Lai Combat Base received 2 incoming 122mm rocket rounds. No injuries or damage were sustained by NMCB-40 personnel or equipment.
…MCB-9 detached a 5 man detail to An Hoa (L7014, SH6641 III; AT873474) to construct a sentry tower for Lima Co., 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines
1969…At 1230 a fire of undetermined origin occurred in the hydromulch storage area, approximately 100 yards south of NMCB-62’s MLO yard, with the resulting loss of approximately 30,000 bags of hydromulch. Personnel from NMCB-62m CBMU-301, Force Logistics Support Group/Bravo (FLSG/B), and the 11th Engineer Battalion succeeded in containing the fire after four hours of intense effort. No personnel casualties were sustained.
…NMCB-62 Detail Grouper, consisting of 10 Charlie Company personnel, deployed to Dual Blade Site C-1 to construct a messing facility for the 4/12 Marines.
…CDR W.L. Wilson, CEC, USN, Operations Officer CBPAC, visited NMCB-53 at Camp Haskins North.
1970…CDR W.L. Wilson and LT Rohrbach of COMCBPAC held a Management Inspection visit for Operations, Training, Safety, and Administration of NMCB-121.
…Chu Lai Combat Base received approximately 230 incoming rockets on 4 and 5 May with 11 landing in Camp Shields of NMCB-7. The rockets caused minor damage to the Seabee camp and inflicted one minor personnel casualty.
