1966NMCB-40 begins its first of three RVN deployments at Camp Shields relieving NMCB-4 which was completing its first RVN deployment

1967An NMCB-71 Detail of 1 CPO and 29 other enlisted men deployed to Binh Son to construct a Hospital for ROK Army Support Battalion.
An NMCB-4 detail consisting of SWC L.J. Fagan and 14 men departed Camp Hoover for Phu bai to construct cantonment facilities for MAG-16 which consisted of constructing (3) 20x108 two story wood frame barracks with concrete decks, (12) 4-hole latrines and the foundation for an 8000 s.f. operations building.
NMCB-1 detached one officer and 52 men to Thon An Cu Dong to upgrade bridge #30 to a Class 50 bridge until 25 Sep 67
NMCB-6 deployed 1 officer and 55 enlisted men to Tam Ky (288 231) to construct two FSI cantonments for ARVN Forces and a CORDS sponsored hospital addition. The Detail rejoined the Battalion on 6 April 1968.

1968 Quang Tri Combat Base received three enemy rocket rounds. None impacted in the NMCB-11 camp but sent the Camp into Condition One.
NMCB-7 received one incoming grenade in the vicinity of bunker #12 at 0010. Under flare illumination 3 enemy were observed in the wire. They were engaged with 32 rounds of small arms fire and two rounds of illumination. By 0050 the action was complete with no casualties of significant damage. At 0335, NMCB-7 outpost #1 observed three men moving about in the pre-cast area, heading east. Requested Subsector A to check their area with negative results.

1969NMCB-62 Detail Tarpon rejoined the Battalion at Camp Barnes.
NMCB-58 set Condition II at Camp Shields at 0855 when a rocket impacted in the 723rd POL Dump area, and resulted in a major petroleum fire which destroyed a million gallons of various petroleum products

1970CDR H.E. Keppel, Jr., CEC, USN, relieved LCDR H.H. Harrell as Commanding Officer of CBMU-302 at Naval Support Facility, Cam Ranh Bay.
CBMU-302 turned over 185 of the projected 575 dependant shelter units being built at NSF, CRB

1971 NMCB-5s Detail Trotter completed construction of selected items at OPBASE Tan Chau and redeployed to OPBASE Cho Moi
