1950…North Korea invades South Korea beginning Korean Conflict

1966…NMCB-1 provided assistance to ACB-1 during installation of the causeway at Red Beach. NMCB-1 constructed a laterite access road connecting the causeway to the Camp Haskins road system. Flood lighting was installed for the beach end of the causeway. Battalion bulldozers excavated a channel in the beach and dragged the causeway (L701 6659 III 961-804) pontoons into final position.
…NMCB-10 completed the III MAF Recreation Center Exchange Retail Store and was opened by BGEN J.M. Platt, USMC, Chief of Staff, III Marine Amphibious Force.

1967…RADM P.L. Lacy, Commander NSA; MGEN Robertson, CG 1st MARDIV; BGEN Herbold, CG FLC, and other officials from commands in the area were hosted by the officers of NMCB-74 at Camp Haskins South.
…An NMCB-4 dump truck struck a mine on Rt. 14. EO1 D.E. Shove was wounded for a second time.

1968…NMCB-74 Main Body began arriving at Camp Shields, Chu Lai. The movement was completed by 03 July 1968.
…NMCB-11 completed installation of one asphalt plant at Quang Tri Combat Base; operated plant and rock crusher during June, offloaded 14,500 cubic yards of 2” rock shipped by barge from Da Nang to Dong Ha.

1969…RADM J.G. Dillon, CEC, USN, COM3NCB; BGEN Yates, Director of Construction MACV; and CAPT A.W. Walton, CEC, USN, COM32NCR, visited several NMCB-128 job sites on the Quang Tri Combat Base.
…At 0034 six or seven rounds of rockets impacted outside of the NMCB-62 sector of the Dong ha Combat Base defensive perimeter. No personnel or equipment casualties were sustained by NMCB-62. Camp barnes remained in Condition Blue until 0135.
…RADM J.G. Dillon, CEC, USN, COM3NCB and CAPT J.E. Powell, CEC, USN, CEC, USN, COM30NCR, visited NMCB-53’s rock crusher and asphalt detail at Vinh Dai.
…Radm. J.G. Dillon, CEC, USN, COM3RDNCB, and Bgen. Yates, MACV Director of Construction, on board for inspection of job sites.
…MCB-10 Details Echo, November, and Tango returned to base camp.

1970…NMCB-62 Detail Albany’s detachment to Song Ong Duc returned to Binh Thuy anfd joined Detail Hollywood at Tan Chau.
… NMCB-5 continued it’s work throughout the Delta, concerning itself mainly with ACTOV bases. NMCB-5 Detail Kilo (65 men) had finished 88% of Rach Soi ACTOV base as of 25 June.
