…Adm. Thomas H. Moorer, USN, Prospective CNO, visited the Dong Ha Combat Base and received a briefing on the construction program of NMCB-11. The soft spoken Alabamian was in charge of the U.S. Pacific and Atlantic fleets and was later the Navy representative on the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1967. Admiral Moorer was a strong advocate of mining the ports in North Vietnam to try to end the war.
