This could be good news for you lads. I used to sneak home to watch them in the old days.

BBC bring Bill & Ben back out of retirement

THIS might be the age of Pokemons and PlayStations but the BBC is returning to a "golden era" of children's programmes to compete for the attention of young viewers.
Bill & Ben, the Flowerpot Men, who last appeared on television in 1971, are being brought back to life - this time in colour and with no strings attached. Though the pair will continue to speak in their trademark gibberish, known as "flobbadob", they have been modernised.
Gone are the jerky movements and visible puppet strings of the original black and white programme. Bill and Ben are state of the art puppets with latex skins wrapped over moveable metal skeletons. The figures, which each cost about 20,000 to make, also have bigger, more expressive faces and fluid movements filmed a frame at a time by animators.
The minimalist plots of the original series, largely consisting of the two main characters muttering "flobbalobbalob", and their friend Weed's shrill cry of "Weeeeeeeed", has been replaced with "proper" story lines. They are joined by a cast of new animal friends including a squirrel (Scamper), magpie (Pry), hedgehog (Boo), worm (Whoop) and a spider (Whimsey).
Nigel Pickard, controller of Children's BBC, said the Bill & Ben revival was long overdue. Unveiling the new CBBC winter schedule which includes the pair in its line-up, he said: "Ask not why, ask why so long. A good idea remains a good idea and it should have been brought back earlier."
Flobbalobbalob William!
