Victoria is Dead, Long Live Albert

All please to read and note:

Queen Vic is dead, long live Albert. That may not be historically correct (and we got everything else wrong tonight as well) but take it as fact for the rest of the season - the Charabancs now play their home matches at the Albert just down the road from the Victoria in Withington village.

Sorry about that. The Victoria is a lovely pub with nice staff and a great place for a night out. But it quickly became apparent that quiz teams have no hope of competing with the 3 TV screens on football evenings. So best to give up early rather than not at all.

The Albert is small and dingy but it has a big heart. Ivor summed it up perfectly tonight when he described it as being like what the Turnpike would have looked like 20 years ago. Paul the landlord is friendly and easygoing. "All gobshites are welcome as long as they buy some beer"

So as long as you get the occasional round in you should enjoy the experience. "Fir" is Irish for Gents and "Mna" is the Ladies. That's all you need to know for the moment.....
