1965…MGEN L. Walt, Commanding General, IIIMAF presented 66 Purple Heart Medals to personnel of NMCB-9 wounded as a result of the 28 October Viet Cong attack.

1966…NMCB-62 begins it’s first of four RVN deployments at Camp Campbell, Phu Bai relieving NMCB-7 which completed it’s first RVN tour
…NMCB-40 began construction of a 5,000 man Amphitheater for the 1st Marine Division.
…Seabee Team 1008 departed Dran for Camp Hoover.
…The Minh Long Special Forces camp was completed by the NMCB-9 Detachment. Construction had proceeded on schedule despite crippling monsoon rains.
…Seabee Team 0910 departed the Main Body at Da Nang, via C-118 aircraft for the 31st NCR to commence military and technical training.

1967…RADM J.V. Bartlett, CEC, USN, COM3NCB visited the Dong Ha LCU Ramp being constructed by NMCB-5.
…CDR C.R. Whipple. Public Works, Subic Bay, the prospective NMCB-3 Commanding Officer, visited Camp Wilkinson.
…RADM J.B. Bartlett, COM3NCB, dedicated Camp Wilkinson in memory of CM1 J.W. Wilkinson, killed during a mortar attack on the Phu Bai/Gia Le bases. Sixteen (16) Purple Hearts were presented to NMCB-3 personnel.
…An NMCB-3 convoy passing the site of four mines, believed to be command detonated dud bombs, were exploded simultaneously. Several men were knocked down by the blast and one man carried 40 feet through the air. No damages or injuries were incurred to NMCB-3 personnel.
…At NMCB-11 ceremonies aboard CBC Port Hueneme, the mayors of Port Hueneme, Oxnard, Camarillo, and Ventura joined with the Commodore in officially “Welcoming Home” NMCB-11. The battalion was presented a resolution passed by the City Council of the City of Oxnard.
…The final phase of a 500-man galley for the 1st Marine Shore Party and the security lighting for the Nam-O bridge were also completed by MCB-1 as their second eight-month deployment drew to a close

1968…Seabee Team 0101 responded to a fire which swept through a crowded section of Chau Phu City, Chu Doc Province, assisting in bringing the fire under control and preventing widespread destruction. 136 homes were destroyed. EO2 Bacchiochi was subsequently awarded the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star for his actions in controlling the fire.
…The quarry at the Song Cam Lo River came under mortar and small arms attack. Wounded in the attack was NMCB_22’s EO2 J.A. Savage and CN F.L. Dressel both of which were awarded the Purple Heart by Battalion Commander Dunlap

1970…CBMU-302 turned over 74 dependant shelters to the VNN Logistics Support Command at Cuu Long
