According to the below-linked USNI News article, the Navy is betting big on unmanned surface vehicles in the future.
What also caught my attention in the article was the Navy's decision to retire the USS Harry S. Truman some twenty five years early, so as to cover the cost of the purchase of the unmanned ships. I would have thought that, instead, they would have cut back on the planned purchase of ten super-expensive Gerald R. Ford-class carriers. (See below:
