Re(2): U.S. long watched Soleimani, but feared risks of a strike

Al,
I didn't intend to make a moral equivalence.
I just wanted to make a point that Soleimani was a senior member of a foreign government, with whom we are not currently at war; this, as opposed to Osama Bin Ladin, also an international terrorist leader, but one who was not a formal member of another country's government.
It might be stretching the point a bit, but one might ask if would we be justified in taking out the Ayatollah since he is the one who exercises overall control over the international terrorists operating out of Iran.
