EOH2 Geter A. Hensley served with Headquarters Company, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE (NMCB-3), 3rd Naval Construction Brigade. US Navy Seabee Equipment Operator Hauling(EOH2) Geter Alfred Hensley, US Army Veteran, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam Veteran, Born in Micaville, he became a resident of Marion, NC.

US Navy Equipment Operator(Hauling)Second Class Geter Alfred Hensley was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Navy, EOH2 Hensley served our country until November 12th, 1967 in South Vietnam, Offshore on the USS Sanctuary.. He was 40 years old and was married. Geter died from illness or disease. His body was recovered. Geter was born on January 10th, 1927 in Micaville, North Carolina. EOH2 Hensley is on panel 29E, line 082 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 16 years in the Navy, 8 years in the US Army.

Geter also served in the US Army/Army Reserves 1943-1951 where he attained the rank of E-7,Sergeant First Class (SFC), before joining the US Navy 1951-1967 where he attained the rank of EOH2, Equipment Operator (Hauling) Second Class.

He is the Son of Commodore Alfred A Hensley and Mrs Bertha Hensley. Husband of Naomi Hensley, 719 Morris Avenue, Marion, NC. Father of Ricky Dean and Ronnie Lee Hensley.

He served with the US Navy Seabees with Headquarters Company, NMCB-3, 3rd NC Brigade, US Naval Forces, Vietnam.

In the Navy he was awarded The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Navy Good Conduct Medal(s). In the Army he was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal(s), The World War II Occupational Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Korea Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal.
