CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.

Hi Maurice, As you know 1RF were in Belfast Bks in Osnabruck and a couple of miles away 1LF were in Quebeck Bks Osnabruck. 1RF had Garrison Duties similar to that of 1LF except that 1RF provided 2 or 3 Fire Piquet Fusiliers each nigh for the Army Cinema located near the main NAAFI shop and the Church Army Cafe and News Agents. When 1RF National Service guys started the journey home by Flying RAF from Guterslohe to Lynham, 1LF were already in draw down mode for their return to the UK Wheaton so 1RF CO Willy Taylor did a deal with 1LF CO Jim Wilson to take a Platoon of 1LF into 1RF to cover 1RF daily and nightly Garrison Duties through 1RF N/S guys going home.
There was always plenty of BAOR dependant girls & Local F**nny every Friday and Saturday nights in and around the AKC (cinema) on those nights so Fire Piquet for a young Fusilier was a desirable Duty coupled with the fact that when his AKC Fire Piquet duty was over (end of film) he could always follow the BAOR dependant girls & Local F**nny to the plentiful Local Pubs and Bars in down town Osnabruck have just spent all night in the AKC chatting them up. So it naturally transpired that the average 1RF Fusilier selected for AKC Fire Picket Duty on a Friday or Saturday was sitting on a Gold mine, and the duty was worth few Deutsch Mark or Quid" I believe that AKC Osnabruck Fire Piquet Duty on Friday & Saturday nights was only ever done by the attached 1LF guys no matter the Price.
Jimmy.
