I had the Privilage to Work & Serve with the Bangladesh Navy UNMISSFMU who were based in South Sudan =(swathes of Desert Sand along the Nile).They Used Ridgid Hull Inflatable Storm Raiders with two 240hp Outboard Motors giving easily 40kph along the River Nile.The Raiders had a Crew of 2 + Two 20CAL Machine Guns,would
Board 8 Marines or 7 Marines + Me when on my UN Inspections of them&their Equiment.
They would Patrol 1900km along the Nile in Two Storm Raiders(the 200 Bangladesh Ships Company had a total of 12 Rigid Hull Inflatable Storm Raiders & Patroled the 1900km along the Nile both ways for 45 Days at a time Looking for Sudenese Rebel Fighters or Smugglers/Bandits & Anything Untoward which could be a Threat to UNMISS
I would stay Aboard a Week at a time during the 45 Day Patrol then Disembark & Catch a Chopper that had landed next to the Nile for me to Board & then back to Juba,later another Ships Coy would take my place so that the
Raider was upto strength with 8.
