I have checked on this matter. The short answer is that if a member was alive on Oct. 1st., they would get the entire 13th Check. That goes for the widows too. I also understand that in any year that a 13th Check is paid, if a member dies during the year, prior to Sep. 30., there would be a monthly proration of the check. Of course, when a person retires, he/she is not eligible for the 13th Check until they have been retired for a year. I'm not really sure about this but I think it is correct. Hope this helps with your question. In the future, if you or anyone has a pension question, just post your question. If I do not know the answer, I will get it from those who know the answers, like Jennifer Campbell or one of the Trustees. I also have a policy and procedures book that I maintain which has most answers to most questions.
