TO ALL RETIREES and WIDOWS,
On Friday, Feb. 9th., I checked up on the progress of the 2004 13th. Check. I was advised that the process is underway and that the expected pay date is still on or about February 15th..
INTEREST PAYMENT: The interest owed to all will be paid in a separate check once the interest rate is agreed to by both parties, John Parker/his attorney and the Trustees. The interest percentage to be paid is in dispute. Under Law, Statutory Interest rates are set by Statute. The dispute is whether we should receive the Statutory Interest Rate or interest percentages that our 13th. Check monies earned from June 2005 until February 15, 2008. This dispute could be decided in court if both parties cannot come together and agree on the percentage rate. If this issue has to be settled by the court, it may be several months before we get our interest payment checks. I for one appreciate the fact that the Trustees voted to pay the base benefit prior to settling the interest question. The actions of the Trustees are in line with what they should have done and they did it. In this incident, the Trustees voted in favor of the Retirees and Widows and our checks are coming. I see this as a sign that the Trustees are now acting in the best interest of Retirees and Widows. This is what we expect, in all instances and what we fight hard for each and every month. I truly believe that the Trustees are now keeping the best interest of the Retirees and
Widows in mind as they conduct fund business. Enough said. Checks are coming, be on the lookout. As one last word of caution, if Jennifer Campbell tells me there will be a delay, I will post it for all to see and give the reason why. I DO NOT EXPECT A DELAY.
