I was shocked to learn that the current health ins offered to the actives and Retirees was selected without putting the policy out for bids. I DO KNOW THAT THE PBA IS LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER. I THINK THAT THE PBA WILL BE ASKING THE CITY TO BOW OUT AND LET THEM GET COMPETATIVE BIDS FOR HELATH CARE. IF THERE IS A BID PROCESS, THE RATES MAY COME DOWN. THAT IS WHAT USUALLY HAPPENS. BE ASSURED, THE PBA IS ZEROING IN ON THIS PROBLEM. WE WILL HAVE TO SEE WHAT SHAKES OUT. FYI.
