During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

Hope watched Atra carefully as she waited for the answer to her question. Although she felt she already knew the answer, she needed the confirmation, needed to know that someone else knew the white wolf named Waptumewi. Atra hesitated, and Hope could almost see the wolf's mind ticking as she thought of how to respond. That enough confirmed it for Hope. Finally the answer was stuttered out. ...I shouldn't mention his name...

But why? Why would he come and run away, telling Atra not to speak his name? Did he think that she had forgotten, or that she would be angry? The latter perhaps, as he had no doubt kept his own abilities a secret. If all Atra knew was that Hope could heal without seeming to do something, then what all did she suspect? Painful, violent death? Ah, but they could deliver death and it didn't have to be painful. Silence could probably kill without even looking at the wolf he was suffocating.

Why would he say that?

Why indeed Hope thought. Waptumewi had not spoken to her since the fight, and then he had left and avoided her for the rest of the time. Atra's gaze looked up at Hope, but she was looking off into the distance. Looking away, mind whirling through possibilities. She and Silence stayed here, avoiding contact with the other wolves within Blossom Forest as much as they could. Waptumewi had probably done the same, waiting for a call to help finish what had been started. But it grew calm and quiet and he had most likely decided to join Cold Summers. Even as Hope considered going out and rising to Alphaship once again. Had he crumbled under the weight of what had been given to him? Or was it that last, lost look in his eyes as he said goodbye because he was ashamed?

One more question, asked as if the answer had to be known. Hope finally looked back at the wolf, pinning her with a gaze that was heavy with experience. "Scared? Because of what was lost no doubt."

She looked back at Silence and the pup, watching her brother for a long while. They were not the only ones left then, and if Waptumewi was still around, were the others too? Silverstar came to mind, and old friend of the siblings who had been among the first in this grand adventure. Was she still out in the forest as well, or did she stick by Kaive? Kaive was the likely choice, Silverstar being loyal to the bone and highly protective of her Alpha.

"What Waptumewi is scared of, you have no reason to worry about it. It's long gone."

And that was that. Hope would no doubt have to seek him out and confront him over it, but it was not something she wanted others to worry about. If he was wallowing in the past, then she'd beat some sense into him and could heal him afterwards if needed.
