During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

”Gabriel, can I ask a favor of you?”

A pause.

“What is it?”

“I need you to go find Wrath and keep an eye on her. I sent Atra, but she’s failed to return. Either something happened to her on her way there, or she’s decided to stay in Blossom Forest. I want you to go and make sure nothing happens to Wrath. You’ll need to stay there until I send someone for you.”

Another pause.

“Is that an order?”

“If it needs to be.”

Gabriel was silent then. He knew he couldn’t argue. Ater’s eyes had finally fallen on a fea, and that lucky gal was our snot-nosed little sister. Gabriel turned to leave and I glanced at Swan, whose anger was radiating off of her like heat waves. It was obvious that she wasn’t going to take this insult sitting down.

“Ater, my dear, there’s no need to send someone like Gabriel to look after Wrath-puppy.”

I watched as she snaked her snowy form across his ebony pelt, flaunting her perfect form in front him and onlookers alike. My stomach twisted with envy as I watched her seductive display, wishing it was me who exchanged such an intimate embrace with the object of our desires. But it was always Swan, never me. ‘I just have a better chance with him, don’t take it so personally.’ God, I hated her.

“You’re right, you’re much better suited. Perhaps you should tag along.”

Hahaha, shot down. Damn bitch.

Anger flashed across her eyes as she stepped back, her ears tilting back as she glared at him. Ater stared her down, his ears pushing forward and his tail rising above his back.

“And that is an order.”

Gabriel had left not too long after that, followed by a very ruffled Swan, leaving me feeling quite without a purpose. I meandered through the pack for a while, trailing Mother until she snapped at me to stop bothering her. Without Swan, I had no one who wanted to hang out with me.

So I decided to leave.

Sure, Ater hadn’t ordered me directly to go with Gabriel, but I was always following Swan around. So, in a way, he had told me to go with them. I wasn’t betraying my pack, right? I was just following orders. I was going to make sure nothing bad happened to my dearest sister. Or rather, make sure everything bad happened to her.

So that’s how I ended up here, in Blossom Forrest. I’d followed my brother and sister’s scent over the land to my sister’s pack. From the evidence on the ground and the separate paths their scents took after, it was obvious that they’d had a tussle. That didn’t surprise me much; Gabriel seemed to just tolerate her when she was distracted by others. I’m sure she tried throwing him around, and obvious that didn’t work. Gabriel had always been stronger then me, and for that reason I envied him. I’d never been able to get out from under my sister’s thumb, even though I yearned to be the one bossing her around.

I turned my attention to the border of Wrath’s pack, heavy with her scent and hers alone… I took a step back as a very obvious scent hit me. She was pregnant. That little bitch had gone out and gotten herself knocked up! She didn’t even have a mate! I snorted and stepped back, unable to believe the information that was shooting through my senses. Seems Wrath dearest was doing a pretty good job fucking things on her own, which made me feel much better then it should have. My auds perked up as the lone howl of a challenger rang through the chill air. I decided to leave before I garnered any unwanted attention from my younger sibling. Something told me that she wouldn’t be too thrilled to see me standing on her borders.

I decided it was best for me to join a pack during my stay. I wasn’t sure how long it would be before Ater would send someone, or even if I would realize when he did. I’d have to keep a close eye on my brother, who had joined a pack on the south end of Blossom Forest. He seemed to want to keep a low profile, but our missions were slightly different. He was trying to keep her out of trouble; I wanted her in it. Besides, joining a pack nearby would let me keep a closer eye on her. That left me with two options: Andere Seite, or Munashii Gekko. Both shared borders with Wrath’s pack, so either one would provide me with a proper vantage point of my little sister. I wasn’t looking for a well-established, large pack since it would be detrimental to my overall goal here, so I decided to go with the later of the two.

My small frame moved over the soft ground quietly as I trotted along the border, observing the land just beyond the invisible barrier. My family was known for being cautious, and we often observed a new situation before we threw ourselves into it. I was probably the most hesitant, over thinking member of my family, and I had to make sure I knew everything about what I was getting into. Joining a pack was something I was not used to, and it threw in a whole bunch of variables I couldn’t calculate. My skirting the pack allowed me gain somewhat of an idea of the lay of the land, cutting back on the surprises. Once I’d made a complete circle I stopped where I’d started and settled into a sitting position. I kept my head lowered and my ears tilted back, but I didn’t want to roll over and fully submit until an alpha arrived; putting yourself into an incredibly exposed position when you were alone was just plain stupid.

And I most certainly was not stupid.
