My whole life is awkward...

It's like a face that I hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face that watches every time I lie
A face that laughs every time I fall
And watches everything

Sasha held the toy close to his chest, his own hammering heart beating against it. He stared emptily ahead of him for many hours, empty and cold. Even though he felt relieved that he was not, in fact, the last living person in Shaman, he still felt alone, as he usually did. It felt, to him, like the world was falling apart and that he... he would be going through it as alone as he usually does. He clung to the lost toy because he felt equally lost in this world, just waiting for the end to overwhelm them all, him included.

Eventually his emerald eyes closed, his hands shaking a little as he clung to the toy. There was something wrong with Atreyu, in a way, that he wasn't afraid, or in shock, by the situation. Sasha could see in his eyes that he seemed to delight in the chaos that the wave had caused. Sasha had nobody for comfort, just this little wooden bird, and he'd be damned if he was going to let it go.

Eventually overwhelming stress consumed him and he drifted into a restless sleep, curled up on sparse bedding away from the rest. Not too far away, but distinctly separate from the group. It was there he woke with a gasp to find his arms embracing a very wonderfully naked and attractive man. At first, Sasha was startled, of course, but really witht he shock of everything else that had happened to him lately he couldn't find it in him to let go, or freak out. His wings fluttered a little, nervously at first, but he merely looked into Vali's eyes, panting softly as he calmed.

Vali was gorgeous... at least to Sasha he was... Though Sasha didn't expect him to be interested in men.. or... what Sasha was anyway... Still, he would hold on until he pushed away.. He had to...

"You're... in the Core... of Shaman..." he whispered softly in return, pulling a threadbare blanket over Vali instead of himself, seeing as he was clothed and the other was not. "I... I guess I... found you floating outside..."

He shivered a little from a draft of cold wind that swept over him and subconsciously shifted closer to the other warm body beside him, though he expected to get pushed away... He was used to being abandoned, to being cast aside or pushed away... But maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't... Maybe Sasha wouldn't have to remain alone...

I know I've got a face in me
Points out all my mistakes to me
You've got a face on the inside too and
Your paranoia's probably worse
