thanks everyone for the birthday wishes :)
for my birthday, i got gardiner's book on egyptian grammar :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D third edition and looking extremely sexy in its hardback leatherbound old-fashionedness. its even sexier on the inside coz its retained the original print from 1927. and its written in this sort of language:
"The subject of this manual is the Language of the ancient Egyptians as revealed in their Hieroglyphic Writings. The earliest inscriptions go back as far as the First Dynasty, which can in no case be placed later than 3000 B.C., while some authorities favour a date many hundreds of years earlier."
it also says "and in point of fact" later on too. that's how hardcore and awesome this book is. also, as we all know, gardiner was like, one of the all time egyptian language greats - being the one who categorised all the hieroglyphs, producing gardiner's list - which makes him a legend.
this also brings my total number of books on egyptian grammar and the hieroglyphs up to 8. 8x5 = +40 points to all active characters. yeah ;) claim on updates.
