Learning how to fly
IP: 67.213.245.24

Of all my eyes have seen, one sight devoured mine.
A little boy & girl, pretending they could fly.
Sitting on a bench, with a cliff overlooking the sea;
Up the hill were the kids, overwhelmed with glee.
Both he & she with coats, stretched along their arms,
Ran aimlessly around, their laughter hardly marred.

Waiting for the sunset, I let them entertain;
& imagined which colors, their feathers would be stained.
He would have wings of amber, powerful & wide.
Hers would be snow white, gentle while they glide.
Imagine him a wild flyer, with bravery & whit;
But her flying through clouds, stirring patterns in the mist..

On the hill a stick was hiding, disturbing her graceful flight.
I was disillusioned, & reality took sight.
Rolling & tumbling, down the hill she fell.
Moments later did I realize, what was soon to tell.
It was then the air now held her, as the fear had held my eyes.
Then quickly let her go, yet she hadn’t learned to fly.
