At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The sound of rushing water fills ebony audits, causing something to stir in the old one's core. Something was here.. Something important. Maybe a fish to steal? Maybe some young pup in need of a lesson on thievery? No, nothing was out of the ordinary on this usual day. Light streamed through the canopies, creating shadows that danced over the water and around bushes, casting a dramatic effect over the landscape. Mercer Frey was too experienced in his craft to be mesmerized by the picture perfect sight. It was the lone wolf that stood staring at the sky and pacing the river bank that amused the ebonite canine the most.

Her once sleek body seemed to bulge outward at her middle; a pregnant one, was she? It was clear that she was worried about something, what with her pacing all over the place and looking lovingly at the sky, as if she wished she were some aloof bird that jsut flew around all day. Intriguing as it was, Mercer kept his distance, only sneaking forward through the shrubbery every few seconds when the vixen wasn't looking. When the obsidian form heard murmuring, he leaned toward the edge of the bush to hear better. Who was she talking to? he thought. It must be the pups in her womb. Some wolves developed a closer connection to their pups than most. This one looked like she had no mate, no friends, no family to fall back on. All alone, she was probably afraid for the saftey of the pups, let alone herself.

Curses! Mercer had let his sympathy for the lonely fae get the best of him. He stumbled out of the bush, covering it up like he was already in it when he "tripped" on something and came flopping out of the bush. He thought he looked clumsy to her, which was good for his disguise. But after a few seconds of composing himself, he wasn't so tough. Her shining fur sparkled in the sun, and her eyes. Oh, her eyes. It set the qolf off so much, he almost forgot where he even was. Shaking himself out of his miserable mesmerization, Mercer Frey looked at the female.

"I'm sorry.." he said boldly, "Expecting, are we?
