It was late. A soft breeze was blowing through, ruffling the leaves on the trees and my long pelt. I stood knee-high in deep, fluffy snow, my tail raised and head to the sky. I was watching the clouds, waiting on more snow. Like the moutains needed it. I wanted to try and detect when some of this snow would melt. With one paw, I tested the outer layer of the snow. It was beginning to ice over, and would not hold my weight. It would be hard to get to where I wanted to go -- a cave on dry land near the other side of the mountain. It was warmer there and was swarming with snowshoe hares, a preferred dish of the mine.
I sighed and flattened my ears. This was going to take a lot of jumping...
With large strides, I lept from my snow encagement and fell muzzle-first into a deeper pit. I shook the snow out of my fur and continued on.
It took a good twenty, twenty-five minutes, but I made it. My paws were numb and I felt like I was about to fall everytime I took a step. I saw the cave I've been inhabiting and dashed over to it, curling up inside of it. It was much warmer, as I expected. I glanced out and saw the carcass of a large hare. Guess he couldn't take the cold. Oh well, he just helped me survive it. I tore into it's flank, taking a few bites.
With a full belly, I walked back to my cave and fell asleep, contently.
OOC: Ack! Forgive the post quality... I have no muse. Dx
