Man, why had he even joined this bloody pack in the first place? The place was dead; there was no other way to put it. Not even the ravens stirred in the trees; probably bored to death as he was, and he half expected one to suddenly fall off its branch. Rhundus groaned and turned over, his bones protesting the sudden movement, tendons tight. He had been plopped down here for quite some time, just napping off the hours. He didn’t really have to pick somewhere sheltered to take his nap, there was no one here to threaten him. Not that he couldn’t stand up for himself. The silver brute snorted and sighed, wondering how many more suns it would take until the stupid Alpha came back and actually whipped their scrawny little butts into shape. So, today would be just another empty day, huh? That’s what the ashen hessian was thinking until a howl cut through the air and he instantly sprang up, eager to do something, anything to take his mind off the monotony of the place. He took a second to scent the air, finding a female at the borders, and the irony stench of blood, before loping off in the direction of her location.
He wondered about the blood; was the lass hurt and begging at their borders? Had she just come from a fight? Was she feasting on some of their carrion? No, it wasn’t deer blood, it was fully wolf, tangy and bittersweet. Rhundus soon found the newcomer, and although the site of her façade would shock some he was pretty immune to the sight of crimson liquid. Ah, so the pretty little lady had her eye torn from its socket; a valiant wound, if you got it in a valiant way. Who knows, maybe she just had a bought with her lover and he turned on her sweet little face. The male had to hold back a sneer. But, she didn’t seem weak, so that was always a plus. Stepping out to greet her, Rhundus let his crystal blue portals fall on her, skipping over the bloody socket like it were a piece of dust in her fur. What did appearance matter, really? Slipping her a sly grin, he spoke with a tone of boredom. “It’s been pretty dead here, hasn’t it?” The he-beast heaved a sigh and lowered his rump to the dark earth. At least this would help take his mind off things, and maybe he could actually enjoy the company of another lupine. Who knew. “The name’s Rhundus sweetheart, and you’ve come to the border of Munashii Gekko. Looking for a place to set that precious little tail of yours, or just passing through?” The brujo raised an eyebrow, his mask of dark ash nicely offset by the intensity of his azure pools. He suspected that she was indeed looking for a home, but funny she came here, to a land of death and evil when her own bloody stench would send all the predators after her in an instant. It took guts, he guessed.
