Leo was pleased to find that individual scents began moving towards him immediately after the call was made. Good, there was no reason for the pack to be taking their sweet time. It occurred to him that he wasn't the most experienced in the pack. Or rather, he was actually very inexperienced, being fresh into adulthood and having led exactly zero pack hunts. It didn't cut his confidence, though. How hard could it be? It had to be easier than hunting on his own. The first wolves to arrive were ones he vaguely recognized, or didn't recognize at all. They were all laying low, one even right on the very edge of the clearing. His mother's pack was nothing but a bunch of creepy motherfuckers, wasn't it?
No one really caught his attention much until his brother entered the scene. He was secretly always glad to see one of his siblings. In a world such as theirs, you never knew if you'd really be seeing someone again. Nikandros nipped at Leo, who clicked his teeth at his brother in return.
“ Nice to see you again, Leo. “
Leonidas nodded.
“Likewise, brother.”
He tipped his snout upward, testing the air. He smelled a few more on their way, so decided to hold off until they arrived before leading the group out. Thus far the meeting was a huge sausage fest, so of course it perked his interest when a female entered the scene. Not so much “hey baby, how you doin” and more “I wonder if she can keep up with the guys”. In his experience a female almost always fit into one category: better than most males, like his mother or older sisters proved to be, or dainty damsel, which he saw most often outside of Malignant Felicity.
“Hey big man, you gonna lead or are we gonna wait for the bunnies to arrive too?”
He scoffed slightly.
“We'll be going for something much larger than bunnies.”
His voice was mostly serious with a small hint of snark on the word 'bunnies'. As if he would gather the group to hunt down a mere snack. The last two arrived shortly thereafter. A second female, and a male Leo recognized from his siblings and his younger days. The coyote hunt. Good times. With the arrival of those last two, he nodded at the troops.
“Alright, let's he-”
“Hold it!
Leonidas snapped his skull in the direction of the voice.
