Bones, sinking like stones

I guess it was just the fear of trying his hand, well hoof, at a new family that cause him to leave so abruptly. There was a lot of responsibility to take one with a family, but he had one of the best teachers he had even known to teach him how to raise and protect one. His mother was somewhat of a saint in his eyes and he longed for some more guidance form her, but he had to spread his wings sometime. Capricorn stepped back into the boundaries of his home and took in a deep breath of sea air. It still felt good to call this place his own, but of course fears of the future still flared up inside his heart and the deepest parts of his gut. For some reason he felt a bit nervous, but he did not know why. Sure he had a his own territory now, but what did he have to fill it with. His newly met second was here with his family (who Cap had not met yet), but Capricorn himself had no mares. His thoughts now went to this dam who he knew was due for her child anytime now with her new suitor. She had said his name was Debonaire and even with just saying his name Cap saw a gleam in her eyes he had never seen her have with any other male before. Well that was a lie he had seen it before when she was with Santiago, but he had never seen her have that luck whenever she mentioned his father. He knew that was because of what his father had done to her and his herd, but still it would have been nice to see the love between them that led to how he came to be.

He vowed to never turn out like his father had and instead to be his own to give all his family that look of love in their eyes one day. Suddenly all his hoping and dreaming vanished as cries began to fill the air of Palmtree Paradise. Someone was in trouble and Cap couldn't help but recognize this voice from somewhere, but who was it? Worry flashed over his as the cries continue and the fear in the female's voice only seemed to deepen. The lean chestnut sprung up into a quick gallop while his mind thanked his father for granting him such a lean body built for speed. He was quick to reach the scene unfolding at the edge of the waterfall, but the problem was he was on top of it looking down. "Azure!" He screamed the instant he saw it was her. She must know how to swim or how did she make the journey from the commons to here? Maybe she was hurt or possibly just scared out of her mind that she couldn't think straight. Well considering he was just a horse the only thing he could do to save her was to calm her down and coach her to solid ground. Alas he could not exactly just jump down to the bank to soothe her.

"Just calm yourself Azure and think! You can swim down stream to a lower bank where you can get back on solid ground. Close you eyes for a second, take a few deeps breaths, and clear your head. Then when your ready let go and let the current tack you down. When you see the lower bank break the current and swim towards it." It was spring so hopefully the current from the waterfall would not be as powerful in this season, or so he hoped. Cap's eyes moved down stream a little ways where he could see the solid ground dipping low into the water. There she could get footing and then lift herself out of the water to safety.
