To all Retirees,
As Retirees we are at a disadvantage in making a choice for our trustees. We just don't know the candidates. The longer we are retired, the more this is true. I was asked to check into those I could reach and I will post my opinion and view. Of the 3 candidates who are running I personally know Rick Cochran. I spoke with him on Thursday, at length, and liked what he had to say. He is concerned that our board is spending too much time with issues other than pension matters. There seems to be a lot of in-fighting rather than governing our pension contract. Rick has assured me that if elected, he will keep in mind that he represents ALL members of the fund. In my efforts to glean a clear idea of who to vote for I have talked to current and past members of the board and asked for their input. After talking to 4 officers my vote has been decided. I have not spoken to any candidate except Rick Cochran. For all I know, the other two candidates may be well qualified and have the best intentions. In talking with Rick Cochran I felt that he is running for the right reasons and he wants to restore a business atmosphere to the board. For those of you who do not know, there are always malcontents on the sidelines who constantly stir up problems just to muddy the water. Rick wants to get back to the business of handling pension issues without all the distractions. My choice for trustee is RICK COCHRAN. I know him and that he will be a strong leader with his mind on handling pension issues in a business like manner. RICK IS GETTING MY VOTE AND I WOULD SUGGEST HE GETS YOURS TOO. ****Remember, the ballots will have to be returned to the pension office or received in the mail by 5:00 pm on June 22, 2012. Mark your ballots and send them in today. I am hoping that the retiree vote will be big.
