At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Much to the lass’ surprise she turned to see the rainbow figure following her into the den. A smile spread across her maw and her tail began to sway slowly from side to side. His movements were soft and slow and they made the girl feel safe. The pair settled down in the dingy hole and unlike Yoki who lay down straight away the boy fidgeted and shuffled to find a perfect sleeping position. He didn’t seem comfortable at all and it was no surprise due to the environment they were choosing to sleep in. The lass had just about drifted off when Amatus’ low and calming voice entered the den. Her auds swivelled towards the sound and gradually she lifted her head and turned it to face the boy. It took a while for her to process the words and without even thinking she answered. “I am a bit cold.” Now fully awake she shuffled towards the lad, if it took him this long to settle she thought it best that she moved towards him. The lad was bigger than Yoki which was normal and the girl slotted perfectly next to him. Warmth radiated off the lads bodice and the lass could feel every movement of his chest and stomach as he took deep breaths in and out. The lad spoke once again and Yoki looked up towards her knight. He spoke of the stars. The huntress couldn’t help but turn her gaze out of the den and up towards the sky and from where the pair lay she could just about see the twinkling lights. “Do you know Amatus; I would love to fly too.”

Everything went quiet and the two wolves lay together thinking of the stars and how they would love to fly. Yoki had never felt safe with a brute before and she had never been this close to a male and been happy about it. So why now was she next to a male, searching towards the skies above and not feeling scared or anxious? The lass had experienced every bad emotion possible and she knew more about negative emotions than anyone else did but right now she was feeling something. Something deep down in her heart that she had never ever felt before. It was strange and scary but she let it overwhelm her. She felt sick but happy and she had butterflies every time she looked at him or heard his voice. What was this? She had never experienced it before yet it burnt so heavily in her stomach and heart. Yoki tried to ignore it. She tried to think about something else, anything else but she couldn’t. All she could think about was Amatus.

Amatus. Amatus. Amatus. His name spun round her head and made her feel dizzy. His scent stuck within her nares and his voice echoed in her auds. He was amazing in every sense of the word. He was soft and gentle and caring and he had become very dear to Yoki in the short time they had been together. He was perfect. He brought out the best in her and believed in her when she didn’t. His pelt was mind blowing and his orbs where bright and healthy and every time she stared into them she could see stars. The huntress was glad he was her friend but she wanted him to be more. He meant more to her than just a friend but did he feel the same about her? What was she going to do? There was only one she could do...

Yoki looked up again towards her ‘friend’ and smiled. Gently she nuzzled the bottom of his neck before tucking her head under his chin. “Do you know Amatus, before when I said I wished I could fly... I take it back. I don’t wish I could fly, because I already can. I fly every time I look into your eyes. I don't feel invisible when I’m with you. And I know we’ve only just met but I feel different around you. I feel brave and strong and my stomach is filled with butterflies. You may think I’m naive like a pup and call it what you want but I think... I think I’m in love with you!” As soon as the words had left her lips the elegant ess slowly directed her actions towards the boy’s maw; she was going in for a kiss.
