At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Linkin Park

Things had been so different since Larka and Fell had left. Linkin wasn't sure exactly why they had but he assumed it was a good reason. They were never the foolish type, and always had purpose for what they did. He respected their decision, and the once beta decided to take some time off of the pack for himself as well. New wolves were flooding into the pack land as he made his way out. A nostalgic sigh escaped his lips and he set his path out for Misty Mountain. It had been his home before Spring Grounds had ever crossed his mind. Right after arriving in Blossom Forest he found a home on the backside of the mountain, in a cave that was hidden to most other wolves. Well, it seemed that way anyways, as he'd never had any company while living there. And again, as he arrived at the mouth of that cave, the only scents were his, old and stale and just barely detectable. For a while he stayed only there, catching small rodents to snack on and drinking from the nearby creek. It was nice, but after a few months his thoughts kept returning to Spring Grounds.

In true Linkin fashion, he allowed his thoughts to stir up and drive him nearly mad before he'd do anything about it. Eventually he left the mountains, and instead of going directly back to rejoin Spring Grounds, he simply checked in on the pack from a distance. It held the same alpha for quite a while, who took some time off and handed it over to their beta, and then regained control upon their return. Not much buzz was around about any challenges or changes in the monarchy or anything for a long time. Linkin Park was actually on his way back towards the mountains after his most recent check in when he heard rumor of a challenger at the border. And when he turned around and went back, go figure, there really was one. It was a female with a coat almost as shaggy as his own. She didn't appear cocky, or power hungry, and it intrigued him. He followed a good distance behind when they traveled to Quarrels Clearing, and watched both fights intently. By the time the second round came about, he had to admit he was cheering for the challenger. He'd left because of his dislike of the alpha who had taken the pack after Larka, so perhaps he was cheering more against them than for the challenger. Either way, he was pleased with the end of the second fight resulting in a win for said challenger.

After she won he expected her to head directly back to the pack grounds, however it didn't seem to be the case. So allowing her a head start towards wherever she was going, he began following from the sidelines. After a while of walking he had a guess, knowing Blossom as well as he did, and he took a detour while she continued on. She was going at a slow enough pace that he wasn't too worried about losing her track. They were passing by a trail that lead into Prey Plateau, and he emerged into the hunting grounds with his snout to the ground. His goal was to find something small, and it happened that he would cross a rabbit shortly after arriving. After a bit of chasing and trapping, he had fresh meat in his jaws. Aside from a bit of blood dripping off the edge of his lips it wasn't too much of a mess, either. He didn't return to the main trail after, because if his previous guessing was correct then he knew a shorter way to the place the female had been going. There weren't many areas to go in that direction, the most popular being Staircase Falls.

His evergreen eyes found her damaged body laying down as soon as he entered the area, no more than ten minutes after catching the rabbit. She must have been tired, fighting as hard as she had for her newly acquired position. He couldn't tell if she was still conscious or if she'd just passed out, but he figured it would be best to approach her anyways. Better than remaining the stalker of sorts he'd been thus far. He walked towards her and dropped the rabbit so it landed a few inches from her muzzle.

“Consider this my congratulations for your win.”

Linkin offered a small, dry smile. It was sincere, but also forced as smiling wasn't his usual expression. He stepped back a bit to give her space but didn't look away as he waited for some sort of reply back.
