The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Two days earlier.

Peter,
I’m sorry. I know you won’t believe but I assure you I am… Forgive me? I’ve never loved anyone like I love you. We’re Frodo and Sam remember? You and me, we’ll love each other always and always means forever. Do you remember when we first met? I do. You said hi and I just sat there and smiled. I shouldn’t have smiled Peter, I know that now, I should have just walked away… I was greedy. I knew it was wrong and I still did it, I wanted you for myself and I didn’t care how I got you or who it would hurt. Tell Kristine that I’m sorry too, I was always sorry, I never meant it to be this way. You belong with her… It was a stupid romance you and I. My father was right, summer love, it‘ll be over soon - its just a phase, it‘s got to pass. You’ll forgive me I know you will, you have to. You love me Peter, you never had to say it, I always knew. I wanted you, you wanted me… that’s just how it was. Remember that night when I asked you that question under the stars? You said it was our question; something we’d always remember each other by, my silly little question and your smart assed answer. I asked how do you wake someone up from inside a dream and you just laughed, stroking my face and saying why do you ask so many stupid questions. I know why I cried when you kissed me Peter, I didn’t know it then but I know it now… I loved you. I have ever since I first looked into your blue eyes. They’re the perfect shade you know… I’ll never forget you. Promise me that you won’t forget? No, never mind. I know you wont, neither of us will. I love you. I have to leave you now… goodbye Peter.

“Don’t leave anything out Tom… please”
Wouldn’t dream of it doll face.
“Promise me?”
You’re a real strange girl Mol, did you know that? ‘spose you did. Alright then I promise.
“Thanks, I appreciate it.”
So where you heading now?
“I don’t know, where ever the wind takes me I guess… I heard of a place a few days trek away, maybe I’ll stop there and see you know?”
Yeah. You know its not easy out there Mol you got to be careful. The world aint no place for a girl like you poppet. To big, you might just get swallowed up.
“Oh okay then, I guess I‘ll just have to be careful because I see how much fait you have in me!”
He loves you Mol.
“Yeah I know…”
Then why the hell Mol, why you leaving ‘em then? Why not just stay an-
“And do what? What am I supposed to do? Stay and watch them together? It would kill me…”
You could be with him.
“Oh yeah like that would solve anything! We aren‘t meant to be together! Why cant you understand that? You should know it you’re his best friend! Come on he would be disappointing everyone… A girl like me isn‘t for a guy like that, that’s why there’s girls like Kristine…”
But he doesn’t want Kristine he wants you Molly.
“How do you know what he wants? It doesn’t matter what he wants anyway! It’s what he needs… and that doesn’t include me.”
Hell Mol why you got to be so damned naive? What he wants is what he needs, I thought you knew that?
I don’t know anything anymore Tom that’s the problem! I have to go; just tell him okay?
Mol wait-please!

Present day.

Deliberate yet gentle footsteps struck the ground with a subtleness that was testament to the young ladies talent, carefully staying shut away; out of sight out of mind you know. She felt alone and useless again, not empty just alone but for what? Love? No it wasn’t love it was… something more. It was Peter; her Peter. It was for him not her. He was her everything and she had willingly threw all of that away; why? To please Kristine? No, no matter how much she wanted to say it was because of that other girls feelings she couldn’t; all she wanted she wanted for him… all she wanted was for him to be happy. Always only wanting what was best for him, what he should have chosen, what he should have wanted. Kristine. Her pretty lips curled into a smile as she thought of it; his smile, his laugh, everything about him, her but then almost to suddenly, in a small moment to tiny to picture, it was gone… just disappeared right under that pretty nose of hers. The smile remained though even if it wasn’t as genuine as was natural for her features.

How long had she been walking? She didn’t know - a good three of four days at best. She had reached that place she had originally been planning on staying in but one glance and she knew… he’d come for her. It was to close and he would try and find her; bring her back with them. No she couldn’t do that, she wasn’t even sure if she could handle it… so she kept walking; she walked until every muscle in her lissome body ached. That’s when she happened here but of course not where she had stopped. It would take God to find her now… God and maybe a shot, no a few shots of amphetamine. It was early here or as far as she could tell, the smell of a new dawn was heavy in the air; clean.

Suddenly a deep commanding voice sang in her softly blanched auds. It was the unmistakable sound of an alpha. The birds brown eyes laid at last upon the scene of which she was surrounding her self with and to her trepidation the fence of the pack to which was being called laid right in front of those big brown eyes. Two options. Two alternatives. Suddenly, impulsively the copper lass chose to answer the call. Why? She herself had absolutely no idea. Maybe it was because she knew Peter would never dream of stepping on foot inside those gates or maybe to take refuge. Abendrot they called it. Abendrot was now to be the young girls home.

She slipped easily passed the scent boarder, through and around the trees, and other countless obstacles littering her way. It was easy for her. Molly had always possessed a rather petite and rather quaint frame with thin, light bones and lengthy tendons; speed making up for her obvious… size difference. After all this time she had finally learned how to use her agility and dexterity to her advantage; slowly becoming, day by day, a creature of polished grace; although her humble modesty might suggest otherwise if the passerby happened to be blind. She was strangely acute to all of the novel scents, sights, and sounds as they greeted her strange but non the less eagerly awaiting nares. She followed them and the imperceptible perforation of imprints long lost to the earth as they led her to the brief clearing. She felt her eyes widen a little as she caught the sheer amount of wolves beleaguered around… him. 14, 15 including her own little self. Suddenly she heard her friends words as they rang in her head. ‘The worlds to big for a girl like you poppet.’ Big, daunting, intimidating.

She felt their eyes all barrel into her but she knew how ignorant and childish that was, none of them were even looking in her direction. It took only a fraction of a second for her to realize she only had herself to give; they could take it or leave it. She felt a small smile creep back onto that pretty face of hers once more as she looked up at the white warlord again, this time a bit more sure of herself. Dulcet words spread forth to meet the authoritative strangers own frosty auds as her brassy head dipped slightly.

Molly.

Simple yet purposeful. That’s all he needed to know. She looked around for someone to sit beside or perhaps even start a conversation with but to her astonishment all of them were either sullen or silenced or well both - most of them anyway. She found someone that looked at least… normal? Or at least not as shut off as the rest. Ordinary besides of course the fact he looked amazingly uninterested - to the point of stupefaction. She easily closed the distance between herself and his fed up frame; head tilting slightly in misunderstanding at his locked eyes, all the others seemed to be expecting something, but not him. A strange little foible. She wasn’t staring she was just… watching; she would never stare again, not at anyone. No one except Peter. She sat far enough away that she wouldn’t be considered intrusive but close enough not to feel entirely left out. Friends seemed like a horrible dramatization, acquaintance a bit of a stretch, idle prattle seemed the preeminent opportunity not only for the stranger but for any wolves here… She gave a tiny smile. She also noticed the only other girl her age sitting not so far away.
