stuck in her daydream

It's as if her prayers have been answered, for like magic, the stallion suddenly appears from between the trees with only the gentle crunch of foliage beneath his hooves to alert her to his presence. Lifting her head, the mare watches him with a neutral expression, her dark eyes tracing the features of the face she had not had time to admire before.

Did I give him my name? she wonders, trying to recall their first meeting, but it is fuzzy and indistinct, tainted with the emotions that had been running so high that day. I suppose I must have.

Her black hide twitches in an unconscious display of nerves; yet still the mare manages a polite smile. She's grateful that's he's come, and even more so that this time they will have at least some degree of privacy, tucked away together with the rushing of the river to drown out their words for any potential eavesdroppers.

"I'm fine, thank you." Isoke hesitates, one ear flicking back against her mane as she takes a distracted moment to worry about her daughter. "I was hoping to run into you, actually," she admits finally, looking at him shyly from beneath her tangled forelock. "I was hoping to... clarify some things. And to apologize for the manner of our first meeting." When she smiles again, she does so without attempting to hide her sheepishness.
