Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

LEGENDS NEVER DIE

Anath had been in love a few times. She’d been in the simple sort of love that one felt for family—her father, Bandit, and her uncles had made life ever so perfect. They’d made Anath the sort of child that they wrote books about—the right kind of hooligan. She had been the hard to handle young woman that won the hearts of the creatures she touched. Far from the perfect child, Anath had caused trouble and caused a microcosm to come crashing down. Some create and some destroy, but from the ashes of her destruction had come real life. New life. Her world was a strange place and it was all she could do to cling to it.

When you fall in love, it’s the sort of thing you can cling to. There’s different love than familial love. The first she’d known was something that had come when she was little more than a child. Maybe he’d even been a rebellion on her part. It had caused his end and her undoing. For a long time after the incident Anath had been broken. It was funny the way she’d been fixed. Love, slow and gradual, had filled up her life over the course of ten years. Ten long, slow, and perfect years had made the green eyed girl what she was today. Life had been crazy, everything she needed perfect and set out before her feet.

Physical touch is something strange. From Thane, it feels as if something is searing a hole into her skin. It’s not like the steadying outreach she’ll offer from Impa, the draft mare that can’t see half of her world. No, this is the sort of thing that stretches the limits and bonds of their friendship. Anath wouldn’t dare let it go, not here and not now. She can’t do much more than lift her muzzle and press it to the center of the man’s forehead, pulling away the matted bits of his forelock and brushing over the areas of coat that hadn’t had contact in what had to have been a long while.

The champagne catches the contact, trying to figure what it feels like. Her heart is hammering in her chest, but if you asked she’d deny it. She’d deny every damn word. Anath’s lips move down the grullo’s dorsal stripe, grooming away the grime that had settled. ”Thane.” Like he had spoken her name earlier, she couldn’t think of anything else to say. There was something important in the verbalization though, the way it tasted in her mouth. What’s more important is the words unspoken… don’t leave.
