At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

"Everything broken can be mended, you my dear will rise."

“Hush now, Yoki. Don’t attempt to speak or move; I’m here now. Don’t worry I’ll take care of you, okay?” His muffled words were ended with a series of licks. “I forgive you, I never abandoned you, don’t worry.” These were the words Amatus had spoken before dashing out to tend for her; a few rabbits would do her good or at least give her some energy. One final lick before he raced off, his legs sprinted wildly towards Prey Plateau, Yoki needed food and he needed to be quick because in her state she was vulnerable. Too weak to speak she would be the perfect victim of cougars, bears and even birds of prey. In his haste, the knight had tripped on a branch and twisted his paw – it was nothing serious though and would probably the pain would come to a halt after hour or so, or perhaps less; it depended how bad it was. But he kept going; the thought of Yoki being pecked was driving him mad and the thought of her dying madder; especially alone. No, she wouldn’t die… No, he wouldn’t be too late – she would survive, she had too… Otherwise, he’d have failed.

The taste of flesh sinking in his teeth was tempting, the thought on feasting on three rabbits – all by himself sounded so great… But he knew that Yoki needed them. He just hoped that in the hour or so that he had gone she hadn’t been fretting or in pain too much. Three bodies swayed and dragged in the rainbow knight’s mouth. It was a handful – or rather a mouthful carrying three rabbits. Two of them were normal sized rabbits but the third was a pretty large and bulky thing with a blotch of black surrounding his deep brown eyes. His legs, even the twisted one continued to march on; but he travelled slowly now, still fluent and silent but careful not to the drop the food that the poor angel's life depended on. He was getting closer because the gentle yet rough sounds of water rushing entered his audettes. It soothed him to know that soon he would meet his princess; his responsibility. He would make her feel better and would make her physically better – too. He’d become her guardian, her knight and her body guard. He’d always look out for his Yoki, whether she’d be better or not.

The slumped, mangled figure was up ahead, still waiting for her knight to return. His body literally leapt towards her, legs in a blur, rabbits slipping almost from his grasp. When he reached the girl the rabbits simply dropped from his jaws without a care. They lay there in front of the girl. His body slowly slid down on three legs, the other one raised, twisted from tripping. He reached out to nuzzle the girl. “Eat, Yoki; you need to get some energy up: otherwise you’ll starve to death.” The knight whispered: his breath breathing into her ear. He smiled at her before jumping up and travelling over to the water. He walked to the calmer point before bouncing into the water. To feel the cool liquid caressing his pelt felt soothing. He felt calm as if it was dragging all his worries, sorrow away. If only Yoki had the strength to move herself over to the water, maybe she would be filled optimism and hope. Maybe she would see light at the end of the dark cave she has so long been travelling in. “Tor, Fenris… If you make her better, I vow to be her knight in rainbow fur.”

He made his way back to the girl, hopefully she had eaten but if she hadn’t then he would probably be pretty sad.
