The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Almost immediately my audits snapped to attention, the low call I had sent out seemed to drift off into the woods, destined to be echoed by a faint call of a mockingbird. Unnerved, my thick coat bristled
in response to the faint trill of the avian descending down the scale, mimicing my own treble.

The firey disc seemed to float ever lower on the western horizon, casting the blue-black colors of night upon the earth, chilling my toes. The hesitent feeling blooming in my chest was now clawing for supremacy in my mind, telling me to turn away. Yet I stood there, pale in the darkened wood, paces away from the border. Glassy blue pools were my only sources of sight now, reflecting what light there was to form the earthern images. It was a good thing the wolven kind developed the ability to see in the dark, or otherwise I would have not caugh the streak of ivory in the woods ahead. Instinct surged in my blood just as I caught sight of that white fur, as the strong scent of Abendrot rode in the air upon the stranger's arrival. But I was the stranger here, and as soon as I glimpsed the Beta, my body was frozen in a half-stand, half-crouch with my silky banner tucked respectfully and harmlessly away between my appendices. Ears flat, and a soft whimper in my maw, hiding curved daggers, I waited for the Abendrot soldier's arrival.

As she stepped into view, I could tell with her confident stance that this was a fairly high ranked canid; not a lowly soldier of the Abendrot army. Her fur was a striking white, but it did not compare to the honey-poisonous tone dripping from her jaws. She heeded me submit and state my name, which I gladly would. My bod was already sliding down, twisting on the bare soil to expose my pale throat and stomach, having no wish of the weapons in her mouth to sink into my life source. She had asked for my name, which I would gladly give up in respect, which she so blatantly deserved.

I'm Ivev.
